This pattern is just too cute for a new baby!
When you follow this tutorial you’ll get little baby shoes that are 6 cm wide and 10.5 cm long.
The pattern uses only 2 types of yarn, a cotton and a candy cotton (a bit fluffy).

Materials & Crochet Stitches Used
To make these baby shoes you’ll need:
- 3mm crochet hook
- 60g gray cotton
- 20g white candy cotton
- 2 x 8 mm pearl for the eyes
- 1 x 9 mm pearl for the nose
- 1 white pompom for the tail
- Hot glue gun
This pattern will make a shoe size: 10.5cm long and 6 cm wide
Crochet Stitches used in this pattern in US terms:
Chain stitch (ch) = Yarn over, pull through
Slip Stitch (sl st) = Insert hook, yarn over, pull back, pull through loop
Single Crochet (sc) = Insert hook, yarn over, pull back,yarn over, pull through 2 loops.
Half double Crochet (hdc) = Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull back, yarn over, pull through 3 loops.
Double crochet (dc) = Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull back, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through remaining 2 loops.
Single crochet increase (sc inc) = Insert hook, make single crochet, insert the hook in the same stitch and make a second single crochet.
Single crochet decrease (sc dec) = Insert hook, yarn over, pull back, (2 loops on the hook), insert hook in the next stitch, yarn over, pull back, yarn over, pull through 3 loops on the hook
Double crochet increase (dc inc) = Make 2 double crochet stitches in the same stitch
Double crochet decrease (dc dec) = Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull back, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, (2 loops on the hook) yarn over, insert hook in the next stitch, yarn over, pull back, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over pull through 3 loops.
Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc) = Make a double crochet but instead of inserting the hook in the stitch, insert the hook around the post of the stitch from front to back.
Back Post Double Crochet (BPdc) = Make a double crochet but instead of inserting the hook in the stitch, insert the hook around the post of the stitch from back to front.
The outsole
You’ll need to make 4 of these for one pair of baby shoes.
Foundation: ch 15
Sole Row 1 work around the foundation chain: 3dc in 3rd ch from the hook, 11 dc, 6 dc in the last ch, 11dc, 3dc in the last ch, slip stitch in chain (34 stitches)
Sole Row 2: ch 2, (dc inc)*3 = 6 , 11 dc, (dc inc)*6 = 12, 11dc, (dc inc)*3 = 6, slip stitch in the chain (46 stitches)
Sole Row 3: ch 1, (sc,sc inc)*3 = 9, 5 sc, 3hdc, 3dc, (dc inc, dc)*6 = 18, 3dc, 3hdc, 5sc, (sc, sc inc)*3 = 9, slip stitch (58 stitches)
Create 2 of these, put them together, use 58 slip stitches to attach both soles together.
Cast off
Upper Shoe Part
Now that you have the double outsole, it’s time to crochet the upper part of the shoe.
Insert hook in back loop only at the heel with new thread. Still working in gray.
Bootie Row 1 working ONLY in the back loops: Ch 2, 3dc, dc dec, 48 dc, dc dec, 3 dc, slip stitch in chain (56 stitches)
Bootie Row 2 work in both back and front loops: ch 2, 3dc, dc dec, 14 dc, (dc, dc dec) * 6, 14 dc, dc dec, 3dc, slip stitch (48 stitches)
Bootie Row 3: ch 1, 14sc, 2hdc, (dc, dc dec)*5, 2hdc, 15sc, slip stitch (43 stitches)
Bootie Row 4: ch1, 13sc, 2hdc, (dc dec) * 6, 2hdc, 14sc, slip stitch (37 stitches)
Bootie Row 5: Ch 2, 37 dc, slip stitch
Bootie Row 6: Ch 2, (fpdc, bpdc)*18, fpdc, slip stitch
Bootie Row 7: Ch 2, (fpdc, bpdc)*18, fpdc, slip stitch
To make the white border between the sole and the bootie, insert the hook in the front loop of the last sole row.
Slip stitch with white thread around the sole working only in the front loops. 58 Slst
How to Crochet the Ears
Foundation: Ch 10
Ear row 1 work around foundation chain: 1sc in second ch from the hook, 1sc, 2hdc, 4dc, 8dc in the last chain, 4dc, 2hdc, 2 sc, ch1, slip stitch.
Ear row 2 use white yarn: ch 1, 8 sc, (sc inc)*8 =16, 8 sc, 3 sc, slip stitch
Repeat for the second ear.
Attach ears, pompom tail and eyes to the bootie using hot glue.
